Black People Twitter

Do you use Twitter? I’m in love with that platform. A whole lotta people that I do the majority of my communication with these days use Twitter as well. Black and white and etc. Did you read this Slate piece called ‘How Black People Use Twitter’? Really, I’m not kidding. Anyways, the piece starts out by featuring the above image of a brown Twitter bird rocking an oversized fitted. Wtf? I thought the tweet bird was blue. And the fitted is kind of insulting in that it’s a stereotypical image of what Black people rock. On the real though, the fitted is kind of dope, and I’d rock one in sz 7 3/8, but only if it were an official Nu Era joint.

But I digress, in the piece, the author attempts to collect all this data as to how and why Blacks seem to come up with a great percentage of trending topics. Get this, instead of using the word #hashtag, they use the term #blacktag. I wish I were making all of this up. The whole piece actually feels like e-cats studying blacks like on some national Geographic sh*t.

Black blogger (and tweeter) Danielle Belton humorously broke this story on her blog, The Black Snob in a post entitled ‘Things That Are Not Surprising: Black People Use Twitter‘. It’s a great piece that pokes fun at how white always be tryna study black. Goes to show how segregated our respective worlds remain during this post racial America.

Like I said, I wish I were making this stuff up.

BONUS: Peep this collection of Black Twitter birds. Lol.

Twitter is dogshit, or crack, and I don’t mean that in a good way. With much respect CJ, you are one of the few people I know of who has his life game + twit game in order but I think you’re a supreme exception.

All the writers, artists etc I know who fuck with that Do. Not. Get. Shit. Done. Their attention span is fried. They are, also. Not. Fucking. Funny (and you know how many people try).

Lastly, Mary J. Blige, tho’ I suppose the more she writes the more coherent she’ll get. I don’t mean any ‘proper grammar’ jive either, that’s bullshit (grammar = consensus, that’s all, not law), just coherence.

Anyway, re: “Black People Twitter,” you know the score, how white is SO fascinated– and patronizing.

But fuck all twitter, really, and read BOOKS again, people– please!
