The Combat Jack Show: The Best Of 2012

Play

2012 was a great year for The Combat Jack Show. When Premium Pete’s assist yielded Bun B as our first guest last January, the pressure was on to deliver great guests, quality interviews and dope content. Week after week.

Week after week, we sent out tweets, dm’s, emails, texts and phone calls to cats we felt would keep the momentum going.  Personally, I was looking to interview individuals that not only expanded the general boundaries of what we call Hip Hop culture, but also provide compelling stories. I wanted people that would mesh as well as clash with Dallas Penn and Pete, who was going to be the next #fuckyberg and who was #Newmanati. There were week’s when we had no one lined up, week’s cats we thought confirmed dropped out on the eleventh hour, week’s when cats just showed up and weeks when we would lock an “A” list talent on some timing, luck, hard work and magic shit.

Magic like when Cheat Code Just Blaze who was on a guest in December ’11 decided to join our team in April. Like when cats we fux with reached out and said they wanted to be on. Like how we hadn’t yet had a member of the Wu on and ended up connecting with the RZA. We and the RZA really connected b. I still can’t believe we did what we did this year. The magic never stopped.

It’s impossible to capture the very best of this year in one post, and with the limited time in which to compile a complete and comprehensive list, but Matt Raz and exec producer Chris Morrow did a helluva job pulling up some memorable moments. #Salute them. #Salute also to the team that made 2012 so special, Theotis Jones for the artwork and Showbills, SahBaun for his work on the website, executive producer Chris Morrow, Dwayne Crawford for production, Christina “Shoom” Issacs for additional production, Ken Gibbs, Jr. and his team on the incredible work on our videos, Alwayz Ambitious, Jerome and Renaldo, Alex Norman and PNC Radio, Peter Oasis, JasFly and Ny Delight. StandOut FT,  Kelly, Akim, Chuma, Chi, Kai and Kara… if I forgot any one, please hit me and I’ll apologize and quickly add you to the list.

#Salutes to Dallas Penn, Premium Pete, Just Blaze, DJ Benhameen, A-King and Matt Raz. I have the best team money can’t buy.

And most importantly, #Salutes to you for creating this space ship. You could’ve been anywhere in the world but you’re here with us. Thank you.

2013. Man.

Dream them dreams…

Another great episode!! I’ve been hooked on the combatjack show for over a year right now.

You are little misinformed about the whole Black Pete/Zwarte Piet issue but that understandable cause you live on the other side of the Atalantic Ocean.

And contrary to popular belief there are black people in the Netherlands/Holland especially in the big cities.

The only episode I didn’t like was the Rap Genius episode…the arguments were all over the place

Keep up the good work and Im looking forward to 2013!!!
