Moses Michael Levi walked us through that fateful night and talks about how he aimed at the shoulder meats and not the ceiling, his thoughts on the Israel/ Palestinian conflict, why he endorsed Mitt Romney, whether he’s having fun or not in life and why he doesn’t need therapy. It’s bigger than rap.

So, let me get this straight: in this interview Shyne compared himself to Malcolm X (THREE TIMES!), Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King jr?

The funny thing is, those weren’t even close to the most absurd comments that Shyne made in that endless interview.

I know you guys are trying to get that big money and keep your industry contacts moist and whatnot. But sometimes you gotta straight call people out on they bullshit. Someone on your 6 man team shoulda told Shyne to get the FOH with that.

That said, it was an entertaining interview-but mostly for the unintentional humour that Shyne provided. Dude played himself continuously.

Yo Combat, You are buggin my dude. The Birthday song is garbage. I dont fux with 2 Chainz to begin with so I had to listen to it on youtube for the first time and watch the video. The song is horrible, it sounds like everything every Muhfuckah is doing right now, the hook is a testament to that and the lyrics and the beat are doo doo. Secondly to say that a 2 hour Combat Jack Show can be a bit much at times, now your really tripping my dude. I’m mad the shit aint 4 hours. Congrats on your Sirius deal its about time. Now find a muhfuckah to bootleg this bitch cause i aint paying for no god damn Sirius subscription.

  • T-Bag

Yo Combat, just finished the show. In my opinion this was one of the worst shows I have ever heard you guys do. Shyne was a very serious interview and you guys asked the dumbest questions. You guys couldn’t adapt to this mans feelings and emotions and therefore the interview really suffered.

  • T-Bag

Pete, calling RZA a “magical negro” example of you exercising your white privilege. I don’t mean to go in on you dudes [||], but honestly this episode was painful to listen to. I think you were feeling yourself a bit too much. I know you have known Shyne from day one of his career but you could tell that he was a changed man. Shyne was very articulate and intelligent throughout the entire interview and even though you asked asinine questions trying to be funny he stayed consistent as he said he has been his entire career and maintained his intensity which you were unable to pick up on. This humor works with most of the guests you have on the show and I love it, that’s one of the reasons I listen but it wasn’t gelling with Shyne and you kept going and going and that’s why this interview was a failure. This is a big learning lesson for you and the team, there’s a time and a place for everything and this was not the time for this type of interview. The only thing that saved this interview was that Shyne was so compelling to listen to and was focused on what he was saying and was so serious about the things that have happened in his life and the life he leads now.

Combat you are making it way too hard to listen to the podcast fam. First you put up the podcast on Thanksgiving then, on the one day people actually have the time to sit listen, you take it down. Now you remove the download link which stops me from downloading directly from the site, which makes it easier to listen on my phone, and now you disable downloading on Soundcloud. I know you want more traffic to go to the Soundcloud page but most people don’t want to be bothered with that shit. I’d much rather download the podcast directly from the site and keep it moving. Plus when I listen to the podcast on my phone on Soundcloud the shit keeps restarting. Some people like to play the podcast on their car on the way home from work, some like to listen on their phone, some on their tablet, etc,. Soundcloud is not stable enough to do all that shit smoothly. This shit might hurt your numbers more than help it. I was listening to the podcast on the Soundcloud page before the shit restarted and so far so good. Now let me try to listen again for the 4th time. And PLEASE Stone Cold Stunner whoever is in charge of the sound effects for me!

  • T-Bag

I had the same experience with soundcloud restarting.

I’ve been an avid listener for over a year now, and even though the show has improved it still feels amateur-ish as you guys don’t seem to have any real format when it comes to interviewing your guests. They’re constantly being interrupted by other questions, idiotic comments or clownish sound effects, while trying to give answers. Perhaps Combat should let the guest fully answer the question before asking two others, and curate the questions coming from the rest of the cast so that it doesn’t end up sounding like a shit-show, with everyone in the studio asking random of questions at any given moment, and wasting your guests’ valuable time (a fact I first noticed during the Stretch Armstrong interview, as it sounded like he had to fight to finish his thoughts). DP, I understand that you try to add comedic value to the experience, but it seems like you’re way too intelligent for how you present yourself, at times. I don’t usually comment on anything online, but I chose to write this because I actually enjoy the show and want to see you guys succeed.

  • T-Bag

Agree with C_Bond. Take all this as constructive criticism, we are the long time fans of the show and we are the people who you are doing the show for. In my opinion we should be the most valued opinions since we are the consumer. Don’t let all the industry cats around you blow smoke up your asses.

this podcast as a whole is great! i work the overnight shift and your podcast is what keeps me sane when i”m at work. you should leave it at 2 hours, i really do enjoy the show. i plan on moving to NY in december hopefully one day i can sit inside the studio with you guys and watch you guys in action.

I haven’t listened to a lot of Shyne’s music, but after this interview I have much respect for him. He is correct on the Obama issue. Obama, though he is the president of the U.S.A. and not Black Americans, is nothing more than a token president. Black Americans on the whole have not held him accountable for anything, while Obama has chastised Blacks at their events and pandered to gays.

Big Ups to Shyne for his growth.

the interview format (or lack thereof) ain’t working. maybe give dallas time, then pete right after. thus, their own respective times to chime in. not folks jumping in and out randomly…fucks up the flow+topic. or ‘least organize the questions by dovetailing topics. Shyne has def earned our mockery, but ya’ll sounded more buffoonish than him today, which is hard to do. you didn’t come off that entertaining, clever type of funn. just corny, especially dallas! hate when you bring back the silly sound FX, regardless what “Jay-Z” (or powers that be) says ‘marketable’ radio needs. you’re losing what makes the combat jack show special and noticeable in the first place– hip hop, mixed with real talk enlightenment, and a few sophomoric moments+’pauses’ thrown in. you had that balance before…

disappointing interview, and definitely not because of Shyne Po. It seems like #Newmanatti has been in yalls ear about how the show should progress in the transitioning to whatever spaceship is in store for yall and they’re telling yall to lay on the antics a lil heavier. With certain guests I think that’s ok, but you guys have to know when to switch to a more journalistic approach. Po’s an intellectual cat and I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why yall kept fishing for the comedy out of dude, almost condescendingly. Going forward I’m pretty sure the LAST thing yall wanted to hear was a Funk Flex comparison, but I think Po hit the nail on the head. It’s where the show is headed if yall don’t stay the course. Asking ridiculous questions over each other, the sound efx, and not letting home speak (although he sounds like a long-winded speaker and veers from topic). I found myself just skipping through yall questions and stopping only to hear Po’s replys. If Shyne would’ve actually been in the booth with yall, it would’ve been a much different interview.

I have to echo some of the sentiments posted earlier. I fuxx with y’all heavy, this show is my medicine while I’m grinding at work. I’ve gone back to listen to almost all prior your shows. But it is annoying that y’all cut off your guest and/or talk over them so much that I can’t hear them or they can’t complete a thought. It’s flat out unprofessional and makes your show sound wack at times and hard to listen to. Step your game up CJ! and DP has to get the feel of the guest a little better before he goes into “stupid ass question” mode.

Dope interview and it gave me a different perspective of Shyne. He sounds like he has grown up and learned from his mistakes which is dope. It’s sad to see old ass men acting like kids. He sounds like a really intelligent dude to, which mean that he didn’t waste time while being locked up, you can tell he feed his mental. Always, inspired thanks to yall show.

Side bar, I checked out that BQE show, damn they need some help or need Sha there bad, they sound like teenagers kicking it on the mic. I may give them one more chance but I guess I am spoiled (pause) from the content yall put out on the weekly and can’t take some hey homie let’s kick it on the radio SHOW. I may give them one more chance but they need to listen to some professional shows and get their content / structured up.

Keep doing it hope to hear more weekly from yall!

I agree with a lot of this. Shyne definitely can’t be handled in the same manner as say sean price or even a DJ premier. One factor though, is certainly that this was a long distance phone call. The energy just isn’t the same when they aren’t in studio. Perhaps just a short over the phone Q and A with Shyne would have been good, the show still being anchored with an in studio guest. I think that you guys are the best podcast going, but this episode suffered for lack of a vibe created between guest and crew… Either way I’m still waiting for this weeks episode………………………………………………

shyne is a space cadet, why would he warrant a serious interview
